ABOUT REBEKAH

Rebekah Wiggins is an innovative non-conformist film director specializing in gritty, female-centric narratives. Wiggins’ films tell unflinching stories from underrepresented perspectives and explore themes of isolation, fraught family bonds, unconditional love, and transcendence through grief. Her bold yet compassionate directing can be seen in the short films Clownfish and Ushering the Light (Prime Video). Wiggins draws on a wealth of experience from her 18 years in the industry as a SAG AFTRA actor, screenwriter, director, and intimacy coordinator. A dynamic blend of mama bear meets indie film champion, her special gift is to generate transformative collaboration with her team on every project

As an Intimacy Coordinator, Wiggins builds sincere, respectful connections on set. She generates an inspired filmmaking environment that keeps the cast and crew emotionally and physically safe while skillfully manifesting the director’s vision. Among her credits is work in the groundbreaking neo-noir film Love Lies Bleeding (Kristen Stewart, Katy O’Brien; Rose Glass, director) and NETFLIX’s American Primeval (Taylor Kitsch, Betty Gilpin; Peter Berg, director). Recently, in her role as an intimacy coordinator, Wiggins has collaborated with Queen Latifah, John Malkovich, and Ayo Edebiri.

As a SAG AFTRA actor, Wiggins' has the range and versatility to play Lead and Supporting roles, both dramatic and comedic, in mainstream and independent film and television. She has appeared in the major motion pictures Sunshine Cleaning, War on Everyone, and Soft & Quiet. She has received multiple Best Actress awards and nominations. Recent accolades include those from the 2019 London International Film Festival and Madrid International Film Festival for the film IRIS, co-produced by Wiggins. In this multi-level Lead role, Rebekah plays Iris/Monster, a has-been-starlet on the verge of burnout and a major collision with demons from her past.

A  passionate storyteller, Wiggins has written, directed, and starred in the short film Today (nominated for Best Actress at the 2018 AFME) and in the teaser trailer for her female-driven gothic western Vicious Kin. Some of Wiggins’ additional accolades include honors for screenwriting from the Austin Film Festival and the Creative World Awards, Best Director awards from the LA Independent Women Film Awards, Berlin International Art Film Festival, and Vegas Shorts.
